Abstract
Erythropoietin-induced antibody-mediated pure red cell aplasia is a rare and unexpected devastating adverse effect of erythropoietin analog. Patient and product-related factors, along with factors related to storage, determine the immunogenicity of erythropoietin. Early identification and withdrawal of erythropoietin with immunosuppressive therapy would improve the outcome. Here we present a 69-year-old male with chronic kidney disease treated with erythropoietin, had refractory anemia due to antibody-mediated pure redcell aplasia.
