Abstract
SLE is a chronic, multi-systemic autoimmune disorder affecting major organs of the body. Peripheral gangrene is a common finding in some autoimmune conditions like systemic sclerosis, but it is quite a rare manifestation in patients with SLE. The prevalence of digital gangrene in SLE is around 1.3%. Toe gangrene has been reported in patients with long standing SLE.. Prior history of Reynaud’s phenomenon is a common finding in patients with SLE and gangrene.. The causes of distal gangrene in SLE include thrombosis, vasculitis, vaso spasms and atherosclerosis. We report a middle-aged female, who presented with multiple digital gangrene and SLE.
